Lactation FAQs
How should I prepare for my initial consultation?
To help us make the most of our time together, it’s helpful to feed your baby about 1.5 hours before your appointment. This timing often allows your baby to be ready to feed again during our session, which can be especially helpful for assessment. That said, we never want a hungry baby to wait—so please don’t stress if feeding happens closer to the visit!
Your consultation may take place either in person or remotely. Before your appointment, you’ll receive a link to a pre-visit questionnaire. Completing this form as thoroughly and honestly as possible allows us to tailor a care plan specifically to your needs and goals.
We’re here to support you—thank you for taking this important step in your feeding journey!
How can I start working with you?
What precautions are you taking for illness & immunocompromised individuals?
At Best Latch, your health—and your baby’s—is always our top priority. We take illness prevention very seriously, especially when working with newborns, postpartum families, and immunocompromised individuals. Most of our providers are not only International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs), but also registered nurses and/or trained doulas. This clinical background ensures we bring a high level of awareness and commitment to infection control with every visit.
We sanitize all surfaces and equipment between each client and carefully sterilize any products or tools that may be used during your consultation. During respiratory illness season—or any time there is heightened risk for illnesses like COVID-19 or flu—we will wear a mask for your safety. We are also happy to wear a mask at any time upon your request. If you or anyone in your household is sick, or if you simply prefer it, we offer telehealth consultations as a safe and effective alternative to in-person care.
We are committed to open, respectful communication and encourage you to share any concerns or needs regarding health and safety. Our goal is always to deliver compassionate, expert care while protecting the well-being of you and your baby.

What are you servicing areas?
Best Latch offers in-home lactation visits with our experienced team of IBCLCs across a wide service area. Our office is located in Parsippany, New Jersey, where we also provide in-office appointments. For those preferring home visits, we proudly serve all counties in New Jersey, including Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union, and Warren.
We also have IBCLCs available throughout Pennsylvania, covering Lackawanna, Luzerne, Bucks, Philadelphia, Wyoming, Susquehanna, and Wayne Counties. In addition, we provide care in bordering areas of New York State, including Suffern (Rockland County), Westchester County, and parts of New York City.
In-home visits are subject to a travel fee of $1 per mile round trip from your lactation consultant’s home to yours. Clients may also choose telehealth or in-office visits to avoid travel fees while still receiving personalized, expert support.
